COMPLETE VISIT ITINERARY WITH ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL MONUMENTS
The tour is designed so that in about 3 hours you’ll see the essential sights of Málaga, linking the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba, the Historic Centre, and the Cathedral, with a clear narrative thread connecting different eras and without wasting time on unnecessary travel.
It begins at the Roman Theatre, where the guide introduces the group and provides a historical overview of Málaga while explaining the theatre in detail. This first part usually lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. If your visit falls on a Monday, the Roman Theatre is closed, and the explanation will be given from outside, without interrupting the tour.
From there, you enter the Alcazaba, which is the longest part of the tour. You’ll explore the interior of the monument for approximately one hour, passing by its main points of interest and gaining an understanding of the fortress from within. During this part, the guide connects the history with details and anecdotes about the site itself, including the reasons for its fame and the 19th-century episode when a residential neighborhood was built inside its walls.
After visiting the Alcazaba, there is a 15-25 minute break to descend at a leisurely pace, use the restroom, and take photos. The group then reconvenes to continue through the Historic Center.
The next stop is El Pimpi, where approximately 10 minutes are dedicated to explaining the origin of the place and the story behind its name. Following this, the tour passes by the area surrounding the Picasso Museum, with an explanation of Pablo Ruiz Picasso’s life and the museum’s context, lasting approximately 15 minutes.
The tour continues to the Church of El Sagrario, one of the oldest churches in Málaga, with a 10 minutes explanation. Next, the group arrives at Plaza del Obispo, where the Episcopal Palace and the main façade of the Cathedral of the Incarnation are located. The origin of the nickname La Manquita is explained, along with the exterior context of the cathedral. This section typically lasts about 15 minutes.
The tour ends with a visit to the Cathedral of the Incarnation, lasting 25 to 30 minutes, during which its architecture and main features are explained, including the High Altar, the Chapels of the Ambulatory, the Main Chapel, and the 17th-century Baroque Choir.
